## About Rift

Rift is the universal filesystem for agents. It keeps everything a person's agents produce in one encrypted filesystem, on all of that person's machines.

## The role

You will own how files move between machines. A file written on one machine should reach every other machine as fast as the network allows, and it should still arrive after machines sleep and connections drop.

## What you will do

- Design the protocol that keeps every copy of a folder identical.
- Find and remove whatever keeps a large transfer below the speed of the network.
- Define correct behavior in writing, then prove the system meets it.
- Reproduce every sync failure a user reports, then fix its cause.

## You may be a good fit if you

- Have built distributed systems that people relied on.
- Write systems code and care about correctness under concurrency.
- Can reason about consistency and failure, and explain your reasoning in writing.
- Settle a disagreement by writing the test that decides it.
